Honda Cars India has announced plans to introduce three new SUVs by the 2026-27 fiscal year. This move aims to strengthen Honda’s position in the rapidly growing SUV market in India, where SUVs now account for over 50% of passenger vehicle sales.
Electrified Powertrains
The upcoming SUVs will feature hybrid and electric powertrains, aligning with Honda’s global strategy towards carbon neutrality. This initiative reflects Honda’s commitment to offering more sustainable and eco-friendly vehicle options to Indian consumers.
Building on the success of the Elevate mid-size SUV, Honda plans to launch an electric version of this model in 2026. The Elevate EV is expected to offer a range of approximately 450-500 km on a single charge, making it a strong competitor in the electric SUV market.
2. Flagship 7-Seater SUV (2027)
In 2027, Honda aims to introduce a 7-seater flagship SUV built on the new PF2 platform. This three-row SUV will be positioned above the Elevate and is designed to cater to family buyers seeking spacious and versatile vehicles. It will offer both petrol and hybrid powertrains.
3. Honda ZR-V Hybrid (2025-26)
Honda is also planning to launch the ZR-V Hybrid in India by the end of 2025 or early 2026. This hybrid SUV is expected to be imported via the CBU route and will feature a 2.0-liter petrol engine mated to a dual-motor hybrid system.
